It was a 9 hole Yellow Peril format for the women's section this week. With the holder of the yellow ball scoring double points for the team!
I have stolen an extract from Jane's journal to tell you more about the day.....
18 possessed golfers went out to play in a 9 holes Yellow Peril competition this morning, each team clutching a yellow ball, all fearful of an early loss of this most treasured possession that could potentially earn them double points on each hole. The weather was bright, with blue sunny skies and it was surprisingly warm, compared to recent days. I must apologise to my team mates Jo D and Annika for my appalling performance today. I started with the yellow ball on the first tee and although I didn't lose it, I scored nil points and it didn't get much better for a good half of the game. The moral of the story is - don't have a golf lesson the day before you play in a competition!!!! Anyway, my partners 'took up the slack' and played some nice holes and we finished on the 9th hole still clutching the yellow ball. Surprisingly, all of the other teams finished without losing the yellow ball too.
So, the scores on the doors today were:-
1st (winning £6 each) - the team of Patsy Clark, Gill Andrews and Julie Harvey with a score of 49 points. They scored 10 points on the 2nd hole, mainly due to Gill holing out in two and scoring 8 points on her own because she was playing with the yellow ball
2nd - (winning £3 each) the team of Helen Grantham, Rose Stevenson and Pam Hayward not far behind the leaders with a score of 46 points
